The Orlan is a sputnik chandelier with an iron frame in a warm antique bronze finish — spider-arms radiate from a center hub, each ending in a turned disc that cradles a velvet cone shade with a small teardrop finial beneath. Three velvet colorways (Hunter Green, Russet, Ivory White) and four sizes, from 3-head to 8-head, suit a dining table, kitchen island, breakfast nook, or grand foyer. Hardwired; drop height adjusts with included rods.

Sputnik form

Iron spider-arms radiate from a center hub in a mid-century starburst, each tipped with a shaded light.

Antique bronze iron

Hub, arms, canopy, collars, and finials are iron in a warm antique bronze finish with soft tonal depth.

Velvet cone shades

Tapered velvet shades in three saturated colorways diffuse warm light with a soft nap and no harsh glare.

Four sizes

3-, 5-, 6-, and 8-head, from 22.4″ (57 cm) to 41.3″ (105 cm) diameter — scaled to tables, islands, and foyers.

Adjustable drop

Three included rods (7.9″ (20 cm) / 11.8″ (30 cm) / 19.7″ (50 cm)) combine for a drop from 7.9″ (20 cm) to 39.4″ (100 cm).

Default configuration

Iron sputnik frame in antique bronze with velvet cone shades in your chosen colorway. E12 sockets (3 to 8, matching head count). Hardwired, AC 110–240V. Three drop rods included.

Bulb base — E12

Each shade takes one E12 candelabra-base bulb, so the count matches the head count (3 to 8). E12 is the US candelabra base, so standard US bulbs fit. We suggest 25–40W-equivalent LEDs in warm white (2700–3000K); avoid halogen, as the velvet sits close to the bulb. Outside North America, we can configure E14 on request — before ordering.

Mounting Hardwired ceiling fixture; chandelier-rated junction box for 6- and 8-head

  • Hardwired ceiling fixture — we recommend a licensed electrician; shut off power at the breaker before wiring.
  • Connects to a standard 4″ (10 cm) round or octagon junction box; the 6- and 8-head sizes need a chandelier-rated box anchored to a joist (fixture weight runs roughly 8–22 lb across sizes).
  • Drop height is set with the three included rods (7.9″ (20 cm) / 11.8″ (30 cm) / 19.7″ (50 cm)), used singly or combined up to 39.4″ (100 cm). Total drop = rod length + fixture height (15.6″ (40 cm)) + canopy.
  • Hang about 30–36″ (76-91 cm) above a dining table; use the 7.9″ (20 cm) rod for 8 ft ceilings, 19.7″ (50 cm) for 9 ft, and combine rods for 10 ft and higher.
  • Use E12 LED bulbs (warm white, 2700–3000K); avoid halogen and incandescent, since the velvet sits close to the bulb and high heat can mark the fabric over time.
  • Dust the velvet with a soft brush or lint roller, and wipe the antique bronze frame with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive or ammonia-based cleaners.

Which size fits my dining table?

A chandelier should be about half to two-thirds the width of the table below it. For a 4-person table (36–48″ (91-122 cm)) choose 3-head; for 6-person (60–72″ (152-183 cm)) choose 5-head; for 8-person (84–96″ (213-244 cm)) choose 6-head; for longer tables, foyers, or great rooms choose 8-head. For a round table, pick a diameter about 12″ (30 cm) smaller than the table.

What bulbs does it use, and will US bulbs fit?

Each shade takes one E12 candelabra-base bulb, so the count matches the head count (3 to 8). E12 is the US candelabra base, so standard US bulbs fit. We suggest 25–40W-equivalent LEDs in warm white (2700–3000K). Outside North America, we can configure E14 on request — just ask before ordering.

How do I set the hanging height?

Three rigid rods are included (7.9″ (20 cm), 11.8″ (30 cm), 19.7″ (50 cm)), used singly or combined up to 39.4″ (100 cm). Aim for about 30–36″ (76-91 cm) above a dining table: the 7.9″ (20 cm) rod suits 8 ft ceilings, 19.7″ (50 cm) suits 9 ft, and combining rods covers 10 ft and higher. Your electrician sets this during install.

What does the antique bronze finish look like?

It's a warm bronze tone with subtle tonal variation across the iron frame, as shown in the photos — a soft, aged character rather than a bright polish. It pairs well with warm woods, velvet, and warm-white light. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive polishes.

How do I care for the velvet shades?

For dust, vacuum gently on low suction with a brush attachment, or use a soft lint roller. For light marks, brush with a velvet brush or soft dry cloth along the nap. For deeper stains, lift the shade off the collar and have it spot-cleaned by a dry cleaner familiar with velvet — never machine-wash. are available.

Sizing & questions

Every piece is made to order in our own atelier — here is what most clients ask before choosing theirs.

What ceiling height do I need?+

The fixture is 15.6″ (40 cm) tall. Three included rods combine for drops up to 39.4″ (100 cm). For 8 ft ceilings use the 7.9″ (20 cm) rod; for 9 ft use 19.7″ (50 cm); combine rods for 10 ft and higher. A licensed electrician can verify your junction box.

What bulbs does the Orlan take?+

E12 candelabra-base bulbs match your head count (3 to 8). Use 25–40W-equivalent warm white LEDs (2700–3000K). Avoid halogen and incandescent; the velvet sits close to the bulb and heat can mark the fabric.

Can I customize the Orlan?+

Yes. All four sizes are handmade in our atelier. Outside North America, we configure E12 or E14 sockets on request—email before ordering. Drop rods adjust for your ceiling height, and dimmable wiring (Triac) is available as a made-to-order option.

How do I clean the velvet shades?+

Dust gently with a soft brush or cloth. Velvet is delicate; avoid moisture and abrasive cleaners. The warm light from E12 LEDs helps preserve the nap and color over time. Contact us for deeper cleaning guidance if needed.
